Different Phase Graphic Overrides For Disciplines

We are a MEP firm and we are looking to be able to control each discipline's demolition linetype. Typically all of Electrical's demolition work is dashed and we would like to retain all of the linetypes for the Plumbing systems (single dash for CW, 2 dashed for HW, etc) on demo and existing systems. I have come up with a couple of ways to achieve this, however this results in creating additional pipe types and/or filters and different systems for demo piping. The other option would be to separate the MP and E models to have independent phase overrides, however dimishes our ability to have Electrical pick up our equipment connections as I do not believe connectors carry through linked models.

Any ideas?

We've been down the same rough road and explored it pretty thoroughly. Though we were just aiming to maintain the linetype of the existing (to remain) piping and ductwork. The difference between our situations is that the Demolished in any phase cannot be filtered by System, since demolished elements are automatically disconnected from the system. Filters would be the way to go, but you would have to find another parameter to filter by, such as Workset. How many "Demo Systems" are there in the project?

Splitting up the model will hinder disciplinary cohesion, as you suspect, and it wouldn't help you much with this anyway.

Question: If you are using the same linetypes between the existing and demo piping, how do you plan indicate the difference on the drawings? This is a much easier problem to fix if you keep the demo linetype for all types of demolished piping.
