Depends a bit on your font, but holding down the alt key and typing 0216 on the 10key should give you diameter symbol.
The other way to get there is to use "charater map" in windows and copy / paste whatever symbol you want.

Hello,

I use ALT+155, you must keep ALT key pressed while typing the numbers.

Jasons solution worked for me.

Hold "Alt" key and press 0216 on the 10key

Thanks! Brilliant! Character map saved my day as none of the other suggested ways worked adding a column dimension in diameter.

If you go to the character map on your PC you can copy across any symbol you like into the text spaces in Revit.

Seems as though 2017 doesnt like the "ALT+0216" - on the numpad - for a diameter symbol. Any suggestions for alternatives?

would be nice if Revit had an advanced text system like Autocad.... Smiley Happy

Alt 0216 and Alt 155 is not diameter, it is norwegian letters that looks almost like diameter.

For Windows, it is Alt 8960 for diameter.

i can only get the 0216 & 155 to work in shedules, alt 8960 doesnt seem to do anything within my version of RVT 17

within text, neither works....

This is actually the right symbol used in Revit, if it needs to be used for filtering in lists. Thank you

Just right-click the mouse to get commonly used symbols. it will also give you access to the character map for other symbols in the font style that is currently being used.

The diameter can be inserted by using alt code or shortcut code in word.

0216 is the alt for diameter and you can make it by pressing Alt key and 0216 on the numeric keyboard.

You can also copy it from here "Ø."

If you want to know the all methods of inserting dia symbol in different devices you can click here.

I LIKED THIS SOLUTION BECAUSE IT WAS SIMPLE TO SEARCH WINDOWS FOR THE CHARACTER MAP APP , THEN SELECT THE FONT I'M USING, THEN THE CHARACTER. YOU HAVE TO USE THE COPY BUTTON IN THE APP APPARENTLY, RATHER THAN CONTROL C.

WOW! THAT'S REALLY EASY!
