Default floor plan view of linked models

Hi,

I find it very confusing that every time I receive an architectural revit file that I link to my model, due to the different Display Settings in visibility overrides that architects use in their model, my floor plans are always different than what they are in reality. I mean that some times walls, shafts and other elements simply don not appear on my floor plans due to these different settings made by them. I sometimes find myself designing a system that has nothing to do with the correct architectural plans. Very confusing...

Do you guys tackle with the same issue or is it just me ? And if so do you have a good practice for solving this ? Is there an easy way to know EXACTLY that the architectural plans are correct, without losing hours opening and closing different display settings to see what elements are appearing disappearing, and loosing days working on a wrong plans.

Should I set my links to "By linked view", "By host view", "Custom" ? What is the best option here according to you guys ?

Thanks!

As a rule, I don't use by linked view. I like to control the way my backgrounds appear, plus the architectural views don't suit my needs.

Drafting is a breeze and Revit doesn't always work the way you think it should.

Hello,

One point to check is the phase mapping of the linked file.
