Creating void forms inside revit family

Hi guys.  I created a family that has these cut holes in them, but for some reason, the nested void form family that was inserted into this one family does not cut to create a hole.  Any ideas?

Try keeping the Void as not cutting through anything and in the nested Family, change the Family to "cut with a void when loaded". Then see if Revit will let you use the Void in the nested Family to cut into solids in the host Family.

Insert witty comment here.

I uploaded the two families for you to test your theory on. I tried that already, I think, but somehow it did not work. I I might see if I should just not make it a void form when loading into a family. And choose cut option after it's loaded.. 😅

hi @Anonymous

You approach it's not very accurate. Those holes can be created with void into the main rfa but if you want it as nested..

The best way is to use a face-based template for the holes family (cut with void the face-based geometry). Create all your types inside.. bring it into the main rfa, place it on the surface.. & will cut. You can now change the types easily.

Can you upload the updated project which includes your nested family?  I'm not able to replicate. Thanks.
