Creating custom tags

I would like to create custom tags for vertical exhaust runs. I assume you create the tag and then apply it to all the runs that are the same. I need help creating those tags. I have attached a pic of the KX 3 tag and KX 4 tag

Hi,

First you may have a parameter for the ducts like "RiserNo" and you may load the data of 3,4 and etc to the related ducts.

You may than duplicate an existing duct tag and in family editor you may add KX as text (if it will change for different risers this can also be a parameter). And you can add the RiserNo parameter to the tag.

So this way you can tag the vertical ducts on plan view and they will be exactly same as you shown.

I do not know how much you use tags, if you need I can help you on this if you tell the version of Revit you are using.

Hope helps...

I am also loading a sample file Revit 2014.

You will see the parameter RiserNo in Others of Duct.

 Hope helps

Sorry, I spoke too soon. I have revit 2016 and I am having a little trouble trying to create the parameter.

You shall create a shared parameter, and call this shared parameter as project parameter Instance.

When you go to tag family editor in the list you may not see the parameter but in the lower left you can call the same shared parameter to load to tag.

You may also open Revit2014 file I send in 2016 to see maybe.

Your video is great. I am stuck on editing the tag and creating the hexagon. I have included the error message. Im having trouble figuring out why its not visible.

Sorry,  one last problem.  I have done everything but when I tag the ducts the RiserNo does not show for some reason. I have created the parameter and everything.

Can you please double check if you enter the RiserNo parameter value like 3 to the duct and tagging the same duct. It may be a good idea to try with a horizontal running duct first.

I have done this. Honestly what I did, Is I created the tag but it was tagging all the ducts because I had the ductwork tagged for sizing. Anyways, what I ended up doing was importing yours and using it to tag the duct. It worked however the riser numbers are not showing. I have entered the parameter for the vertical and horizontal duct but still no luck.

Is it possible to share a part of your file including duct and tag so I may figure out the problem.
