Created a Duct Accessory and can't choose what side it attaches to once loaded

I'm using Revit 2019, but have the same problem in earlier versions. I have created a duct accessory family that when loaded into my project randomly picks the side of the duct it will attach to but I can't choose/change to the opposite side if needed. Is there a control I'm missing that will allow this to happen?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Go to a 3D view of that duct (select the duct and command BX) Then you can select the face of the duct to place it on.

  1. Hey, i don't know what exactly you want to do with the Duct Accessory....
  2. According to my knowledge it should have 2 connectors so it can fit into the duct and connector direction should also be pointing outside.
  3. And the Part type Should be "break into" depends on your requirement.
  4. In your case the Duct Accessory has one connector pointing inwards and part type as "Attach to"...This means you can only place duct accessory in one phase.
  5. Please find the attachment which i have modified. I have done in Revit 2020.
  6. Please check and get back if i have misunderstood anything.
