Coupling Adapters

Hi, all.

I'm developing a flanged coupling adapter family, and I've run into an issue.  The flanged coupling adapter joins to pipe segments that have different joint types, one of them being flanged.  When I connect the flanged end to the flanged pipe type, the joint looks fine.  I'm having issues with connecting a pipe segment of a different type (therefore, different routing preferences) to the adapter.  Depending on the routing preferences, some of them work fine, while others have a coupling or something similar automatically placed when I don't want it there.  Is there a way to essentially negate the routing preferences when connecting to an adapter?  I've attached two images. The one with three flanges is showing correctly.  The one with three flanges and a coupling is not showing correctly; only three flanges should be showing.

Hello,

To avoid this problem, the second pipe type must not have flange set in the routing preferences.

I agree that resetting the routing preference of the second pipe type would solve the problem.  But in all other fitting instances, the flange of the second pipe type should be used.

In the incorrect version it looks like the “flange” is actually a grooved (Victaulic) coupling.

By default Victaulic categorise their couplings as flanges and set these as the flange fitting in the routing preferences. Personally I think they should be categorised as “union” and there should be no flange fitting selected.

This post might assist.
