hi, im working with R23 and R24. but I am looking for a way to count the number of systems in e.g. water pipings. if i create a schedule and filter it on abriviation, size en have a collum for system name, if the system has more then 1 section ( a water line with bends) he will count the pipes. so system "001" will count as 3.  I want this to be 1.

what do I want to calculate? we need to cap the water system and need to know how many caps i need te send to the build. now i export the schedule to excel and there change the count al to 1 and sum it up there. but is there a way to let revit do this ?

Create a Pipe System schedule, filter by system classification and enable Grand Totals

You're talking about a Pipe schedule, not a Pipe System schedule.

In the Pipe Schedule you are counting pipes, not systems.
