Control Component Family Angle with Reference Lines

Hello, I am creating a generic water heater family and want certain elements to flex. Currently I have the exhaust connection geometry modeled as a component family and I want the angle to change around the perimeter of the water heater.

First, I used a reference line within the component family controlled by an instance parameter. Once the component family was in the water heater family I could then control this angle parameter to control the angle of the component. The problem is that it is limited to 180 degrees of rotation before the component 'mirrors' to the original 180 degrees. For example, if 200 degrees is entered it will show at 20 degrees instead. I have attached this family below as #1 for reference.

Therefore, I tried a different approach by having the component family constrained to a reference line in the water heater family. In this case however the component family would not rotate with the reference line and instead created a "Constraints are not satisfied" error. I have also attached this family below as #2 for reference.

I am rather new to this and would appreciate any help! Thanks,

Thanks! I didn't realize it was as simple as changing the work plane.
