CLEARANCE to junction box

I've created a junction box as a family. The junction box is great and all the parameters are edible. How would I add a clearance in front of my junction box?

 all the parameters are edible

Please name one of them "doughnut" (yes/no)

How would I add a clearance in front of my junction box?

You can use line styles to create a clearance area that is purely annotative so you and others can see it in working views, or you can create a void extrusion to generate clashes with adjacent objects.  Depends on what you're trying to accomplish.

Hello @Anonymous

You can create the clearance as a extrusion with glass like materials or any transparent materials and then associate a instance visibility parameter on it so you can control it in the project file.

i'm trying to add clearances to junction boxes so when the models are combined in navisworks it causes a clash so they won't run their pipes in front of my electrical box

okay how would I go about doing this? i've created a box using families and given it a height of 12" and then i made a "clearance" at an additional 6". How would I change only this 6" clearance to a transparent material?
