Circuiting Electrical Equipment Across Linked Files

We are just starting a new project in Revit MEP 2012.  The architect has 8 different models; one for each of the buildings and one for the site.  We will have a transformer on the site supplying power to all of the buildings.  We'd like to follow the architect's file structure by using an electrical model for each builing and one for the site. 

Does anyone know of a way to circuit all of the panels in the linked building models to the transformer on the site.  We tried using copy/monitor and with the copy comand we were able to link the panels to the transformer, but the panels didn't carry their loads from their original revit file.

There is no way to directly link information between a Project and it's Linked Revit Models. To my knowledge, you'll be best off creating a "Proxy Load" Electrical Equipment Family to simulate the loads from the links, which will have to be manually entered. This family would be nothing more that a block with an Electrical Connector and linked parameters for manual load entry.

Try searching this forum for other possible solutions others may have come up with...

Yeah. That's we normally do around here. 

You can either host that family onto the mechanical equipment or place it somewhere nearby.

Have there been any updates to this in the last few years? Trying to link electrical models across linked files and not finding a lot of instruction as to how to do so...Thank you, Howard

No, We place junction boxes on the equipment and manually enter the load. You power the junction box back to a panel in your project.

Functionality for connecting elements to boards in linked files is desperately needed in Revit. A distribution board / panel may have connections externally to the building or into other buildings. The current work-around is to model elements according to their DB connection rather than the building they belong to. Autodesk please prioritize this for Revit 2024 or ASAP. Thanks.

Functionality for connecting elements to boards in linked files is desperately needed in Revit. A distribution board / panel may have connections externally to the building or into other buildings. The current work-around is to model elements according to their DB connection rather than the building they belong to. This is to ensure all the circuits and poles are captured in one place with a single circuit or panel schedule. Otherwise there is potential for error if new circuits are added to the same panel represented in different models.

Autodesk please prioritize this for Revit 2024 or ASAP.

Yeah, always have to add it as a dummy panel n then add load to connect. We need this upgrade for sure.

It's the most "Autodesk" oversight to still be missing this capability. Why not have a similar function to copy monitoring the electrical load data from other trades, and from one linked electrical model to another? It seems it would be incredibly easy to facilitate and would save electrical design professionals tens or hundreds of hours and discontent. Why is it that Revit continues to require ridiculous homebrew workarounds for basic job functions like circuiting equipment?
