Circuit Tag with Prefix and panel schedule without prefix

Is there a way to get the circuit prefix on circuit tags (1A-1, 1A-2, etc.) for elements on plans but have only the circuit number (1, 2, 3) in the circuit column of a panel schedule?

The closest I've been able to get is using the slot index rather than circuit number for in the panel schedule. This allows me to use the prefix circuit naming option which makes the tags look correct. The issue with this is that if there is nothing assigned the value is left blank.

I've also tried setting the panel name to simply "1A" and then using a shared parameter to create the prefix to the name like "RP". I could then create the tag to be "Panel - Circuit Number". Once I did that I was able to keep the panel circuit naming on standard so the panel schedule displays only the number. HOWEVER, we have a "fed from" column in our mechanical equipment schedule that lists the panel and because I'm using a shared parameter for the prefix for the panel type and because unlike the built-in parameter it lives solely in the panel, the schedule will only have the "1A" in the column rather than he panel's full name.

The empty slot issue is easily addressed by added spares or spaces to those breakers.

The problem happens when you have 2 section panelboards. The panel circuits don't continue to the second panelboard section when using the slot index parameter. If this could be addressed, that would fix the problem and using prefixes for circuit tags would work perfectly.

Unfortunately that's not the case so the only method I know that works is by removing the parameter in the template all together and manually typing each circuit number in the schedule, which is not ideal.

Another solution that would be appreciated is to allow the user to input the circuit numbers WITHIN the schedule template as opposed to on the schedule so that when a schedule template is selected for a panelboard, the circuit number texts would be included and the user doesn't have to manually input them every time.

Can this be addressed? Electrical engineering consultants use this A LOT.

Thank you in advance.

Yes, if I understand you correctly.

In the panel properties, set the panel circuit naming to standard, with no prefix, and no separator.   The panel schedule should have the standard numbering down the sides (1,3,5 and 2,4,6...).

Then the key is to edit the home run tag.   Edit the label, and add the parameter "Panel" first, with a suffix of "-".

Then the second parameter should be the "Circuits".   As in "Panel" - "Circuit".

So your tag takes care of adding the panel name to itself.

Appreciate the response, but that doesn't address the problem crapai was describing.

I have a tag that has panel and circuit, that's an easy task to create.

The problem is when you want to use an abbreviated tag so that the name isn't so long. Using prefixes saves a lot of space when a drawing is very congested. For example, a panel called RDP-2-4 could be prefixed to R24 in the plan so that the tag isn't so long. The problem with doing this is that the panel schedule circuit column also gets updated with the prefix. What we would like is for the panel schedule to not include the prefix and stay showing only the number so that we don't have to manipulate the schedule template to accommodate a longer circuit name (such as R24#19).

The only solution I have is to remove the parameter in the template, and within the schedule, manually retype the numbers so that you can still keep the prefixes on the plan while the schedule shows only the numbers.

Thanks,
