Cant Tab Select Elements Within Clearance Zone

I have a clearance zone family that is mostly transparent, if any elements are within that clearance i cannot select them, even by pressing tab.

Does this have to do with the material? cant seem to figure it out.

Disable Face Selection might help.

Try turning your clearance zones off.  They should be on a sub-category of the equipment.

Yes this would be a method of selecting the elements, I am also able to select them while in wireframe, though this is not what I am aiming for. I simply don't want these clearances in the way.

I edited my families to have the 3D clearance visibility settings in plan/rcp, front/back and left/right unchecked.

Then added model lines to the edges of the clearance zone so only the lines show in plan/rcp, front/back and left/right.

This way the 3D clearance won’t get in the way of selecting and you still see the clearance areas in plan.

I do like this, though I should have also mentioned, the family is provided to us and i would prefer not to modify their families. I was hoping there was a way to fix this in the model, seems like just hiding the clearance may be the only method right now.

When getting third party families, it is common practice to edit them so that they work with the company standards and are easy to use. You may even find that the lines are present and you only need to tweak some settings. When doing this, I always save the original and make changes to a copy with a different name.
