Can only rotate objects if they are Mechanical Equipment

I have some UnitStrut that I want to as an Electrical Equipment due to it being attached to other electrical parts. When I have the strut as anything electrical it no longer can rotate in certain directions. When I set it to a Mechanical Equipment it is able to rotate in all directions. Why is this? Is there a way I can have it rotate as something electrical?

You can keep the family as generic model or electrical or anything, set it to Shared, then nest it in a mechanical family and associated the parameters to control the sizes.  Load the mechanical family in project and you can rotate, but you can tag and schedule the nested family in its own category, not mechanical.  Example file is 2019, I don't have 2018.

Which way won't it rotate... I changed the family to electrical equipment and can not seem to duplicate the issue... using RVT 19.

Edit:  I see now... won't do it in a section view.  Follow advice from @ToanDN or make your own family.

I still cannot rotate the strut when I make it an electrical equipment. I do not know what you did to get it to rotate.

I followed your instruction in Revit 19 and I still cannot get my strut to rotate when in elevation/section view.

It seems that you still have the family as Mechanical Equipment. Seems like the only way to get the strut to rotate in all directions.

Worked fine in plan view... was only having problems rotating in a section view.

Yes. that is my issue. If you edit the family and change the category to Mechanical Equipment then  you can rotate it in any direction in any view. I do not understand why I can not do this with the same item only as an Electrical Equipment. I need to be able to stretch it and rotate it. Seems like it should be easy but not really.

Have same issue until now.

Apart from "Electrical Equipment," are there any other family categories that have similar restrictions on rotation?
Has Autodesk provided any official explanation regarding this behavior in revit help or issues?
