Annotative Parameters and Scheduling

I've recently learned a bit about annotative parameters and that you can make auto-updating schedules with them. I was trying to make a fire alarm zoning plan that incorporated room names, room area and floor number with no avail. Is there a video or tutorial that touches on what I am trying to achieve? Or is what I am aiming for not entirely possible?
