Addaptive Family with MEP Connector for use in Dynamo Script

Hi all,

I am attempting to create an adaptive family with two adaptive points to be used in a dynamo script that also has a connector point so that when the model is created, it can be connected in a system. The family is a fire fighting system and the script will place it along a tunnel, following the coordinates and placing it at set intervals.  So far I have succeeded in creating the adaptive family and running the dynamo script successfully however the connector point isn't working, even before I run the script.

I have tried a few methods of creating the connector point. 1. creating a generic model with the connector, and then loading it into an adaptive family however this doesn't seem to work. 2. Creating a separate adaptive family and connector family then attempting to put them into the same model and grouping them then saving as a grouped family.

Any help would be much appreciated. Please inquire for more details.

Hello,

I am not shure your workflow will work, since adaptative families cannot be assigned to MEP categories, which is necessary to make them behave as expected.

Hi,

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

Do you know of a potential work around? I don't want to have to place the families without using dynamo script as it will be difficult and time consuming given the context.

Is it possible to create a separate family with the connector and somehow group this with my adaptive family when both are entered into the project?

You could use Dynamo to place the families, then edit the family and add the connector.
