Add Connectors

I am trying to add connectors to a water heater. But it does not look right, it keeps trying to pick 1/2 of the circle instead of the whole thing. There is either a void in the middle that I cannot figure out how to delete so I can have a solid "face" surface to place a connector on. I opened up a family of a different water heater by a different manufacturer (a much better made Revit family, too bad their water heaters aren't as good in real life) and all of their connections are on extrusions and on this water heater all the places where connections should go are all revolves. Is that the difference, extrusion vs revolve? If that is the case is there a way to simply swap out a revolve for an extrusion, similar to swapping out components in a model, without have to remake them all? Or is what I'm looking at something entirely different all together?

create a Named Reference plane and place the connector on that

you can name them anything that makes sense to call them out when needed.

front , back, Hot , Cold etc.

If there is any information shared that is of value please give Kudos

I feel like an idiot, because I thought the connectors had to be placed on a flat surface, turns out that the revolve with the void through the center of it works just fine for placing connectors on.
