3d view limits

I have a 3d view set up that I use to export to autocad for coordination. Because some people are unable to create certain solid objects I have to clash detect with a single line and this appears to be beyond the limit of my view (1inch above my height limit). I just can't seem to get my view to alter. The box does not show even though it is ticked. I tried adjusting the work planes but although they move they do not show anything drawn beyond the original location. Can someone walk me through this please.

Have you checked if the Section Box is hidden in the view?

I know that I checked this before without success but this time it worked! Just a temporary glitch in my program I guess.
