3D AutoCAD Model convert to RFA file

Hello, I am new to Revit like 2 days ago. I am searching for an rfa online of an specific transformer. But, can't find anything. I want to create a 3D model using AutoCAD and then planning on converting it to rfa to insert to my Revit file. Is this possible?

Thank you very much.

Hello @Llam.Tech,

Yes, that is possible.

take the following steps:

  1. create a new family based on the Revit family template you like. for example the "Metric Mechanical Equipment.rft"
  2. insert the DWG file from into your family.
  3. add parameters and parameter values to your family
  4. save your family and load it into your project.

In your project, you have to switch the 'imports in families' ON in your View Visibility/Graphic Overrides.

see Video below:

Note:

High detailed DWG files can slow down your project.
