Hi Everyone

I'm Having some problems with an *.ifc file, the architech send ud an 1gigabyte ifc file, so I cannot open it o import it into a revit file.

Ther is a way to use this file or I must tell the architech to do something with his file?

Many thanks in advice.

If you do not have the tools to modify the IFC than you probably will have to go back to the architect and see if he can break up his exports in part (maybe by discipline or by levels or similar).

On your side it might be a memory/processor issue. So better hardware might resolve it.

However 1gb is really big.

I would go back to the architect and see if they can break up their export into smaller parts

Please mention Revit version, especially when uploading Revit files.

hi

i think it depends on the Primary software. if the IFC comes from ArchiCAD you may need to install their plugin to be able to import it to revit.

http://www.graphisoft.com/downloads/interoperability.html

Otherwise you could test it with Tekla viewer or Solibri viewer to see if you could visualize the ifc.

good luck

Many thanks Alaaldin

Indeed it was from Archicad, still not working  but it seems to be a problem from the orifginal file. But the extension will help us.

Many thanks again

Thanks

I will ask them to do something like that, and yes 1 gb is to much.

Thanks

for fun try to install Solibri IFC viewer and see if you can open it then you will know if it is corrupted or it is revit limitation

https://www.solibri.com/products/solibri-model-viewer/

If it is revit Limitation then ask the architect to export their model into many ifc's (by sector or by floor)

Just for fun, it's a Revit limitation. This viewer open it easily, it is not a such complex model I don't know why the gb, but we will talk with the architect.

Thanks again.
