Add Family and Type sorting to schedule browser organisation

Add Family and Type sorting to schedule browser organisation

The addition of browser sorting for schedules was most welcome but it would be good to have Family and Type added to the options as well just to allow them to be sorted in the same manner as other views.

Seems an odd oversight from when this feature was introduced...

I'll throw you an upvote, but here's another post about the same thing that already has 471 votes

I agree with OP that this should be implemented. @dplumb_BWBR I think you are confusing two separate requests as this is specifically about Browser Organisation.

I prefer organising my views in the browser by "View Type" as it eliminates the ??? you get when sorting through custom parameters. It would be great to do the same for Schedules.

Terminology is a little confusing as there are:

1. Schedule Types (ie. Component Schedule, Material Takeoff, Note Block etc.) and...

2. Schedule (System-Family) Types (default type is "Schedule" but can be renamed/expanded similar to view types), see below.

Yeah, this idea is about browser sorting functionality not 'filtering in a schedule' that has already been added as functionality in Revit 2022, but @dplumb_BWBR, thanks for the thought.  ;o)

Would definitely use this feature if implemented

When creating schedules, there are similar options as Views, where you can apply view templates automatically through View Types and speed up the documentation process.

It would be great to be able to sort out the schedules the same way as views, where you can have something like this:

+ Floor Plans (City Council)

+ Floor Plans (Contractor ABC)

+ Sections (City Council)

+ Sections (Contractor ABC)

This would keep the browser as consistent as possible when using the "Family and Type" option for Grouping and Sorting both Views and Schedules, which in my opinion is the best way to organize it.

Came to the Ideas forum today to post this idea.  I want to group my Door, Window, and Storefront schedules together under a single "Openings" category, and no existing sort scheme lets me do this (unless I want to make custom view templates for each section...).

None of the Schedule sort options currently included in Revit are useful to me.

Unfortunately, nobody else has voted on this...
