Linked in models not updating

I have a Federated model (aka Central model that holds all models in one file) and want to update it to the changes that I have made in each of the other models that are linked in. I saved each model individually and when I try to re link the model into the central model the changes are not shown. I also tried to publish to ACC and link it from there but doesn't seem to work.

Save alone is not enough—Synchronize with Central in each linked workshared model first. Then open the federated model and use Manage Links > Revit > Reload; use Reload From only if its path changed.
