COMMUNICATOR FOR SERVER BASED PROJECTS?

In situations where a project is not being based in the cloud, but the worksharing is happening through an internal server/alternate method, the option would be an alternative instant messaging service. If it is for several offices in the same building/network, a company-based service will suffice.
On a widespread situation, where the server is accessed through the network of several buildings/offices in separate locations, and it is still not using Cloud services, the situation becomes more complicated, unless the same Instant Message service suggested before may be used in said Wide Area Network as well.
In the lack of suck communication system, the alternative is up to the user, if other services for group chat/conferences may be used.
