Yes/No Family Void Parameter applied in mother family

Hello Im trying to get an answer for a problem im facing but with no luck yet.

I am creating a mother family (A) containing different elements (nested families) one of those subfamilies is a Void made in generic model by face, lets call it family (b).

When i created family (b) as a void i assigned a Yes/No parameter to it with an if formula that pushes the void away from the surface when i dont want the latter cut.

But the main issue is when i load family (b) in (A) the Yes/No parameter will not UNCUT the object. When i untick Yes/No (means void is pushed away from surface = surface not cut) revit will prompt me with an error that says geometry not cut.. couldnt place element. 

Anyone got any solution for that issue please ?

The Cut Geometry parameter is intended for voids created directly in the Parent Family ...

I do not see the purpose of nesting the voids into that Mullion Family...Simply model both in the same family

the nested family has many parameters and many of it will be replicated in the mother family with different parameters. as if im using different types of that nested family. so it will be more complicated to use it directly in the mother family.

In such case I would associate the Nested Holes with a "Family Type <Category>" Parameter and control the cut and no cut in the Child family.

can you please elaborate your suggestion, how do i change my nested family to a certain 'category', do i do that from the mother family ?
i get your point and i think it would work fine. but i am not familiar with the way to do that.

When you select a nested family, you are able to allocate/associate it to a label/parameter...This way you would not be linking any other parameters from the Child Family to the Parent Family. Instead, you would be simply picking the type  from the Child using a drop down menu ... and whenever you have a no cut, you would have a blank Family/Type to pick from that list.

Alternatively...If you want to keep whatever you have there as is, instead of Uncutting the host,

1. Keep void as is (always cutting the host)
2. add a filler element/extrusion to close the holes and associate these with the y/n parameter

i thought of your alternative earlier, and tried it, a line will be always present around the filler which is not the best solution. i think i will go with your first option. As long as i can apply xy parameters as coordinates of the child family on the surface of the mullion. Will check it out,
