Workstation Laptop or Gaming Laptop

Just a question if a gaming laptop specs will perform better than a mobile workstation specs? I plan to buy a machine that I'll use for Revit/Infraworks/3DS Max/Civil3D?

"Gaming laptop", "workstation laptop", and "better" are all pretty vague and relative terms.  I can get a "gaming laptop" which will struggle compared to a "workstation laptop", and vice versa.

Nice thing about gaming laptops are they come with GTX cards vs Quadro and usually have the option for dual drives.  I recommend SSD for Windows and programs and a HDD for backup files.

Get an i7 or better processor, try to get the best one that you can afford ....500gb+ for the SSD...32gb Ram... GTX 900 series and higher.

Keep in mind, lots of gaming laptops have 4k screens.  So you will want to have one or two external monitors to hook up to it if you get a small screen.  Post some specs and we can comment.  I prefer Sager laptops btw as they can be customized.

...just wandering by and wondering if you are aware that the World Health Organization has added “gaming disorder” to its globally recognized compendium of medical conditions and diagnoses?  Smiley Wink

Yep!  I thought I was cured until my mom installed Spider Solitaire on my iPad.  I need to get my gaming computer back in operation to play Battlefield to help cure my Solitaire addiction.

Be sure that you get external monitors to go with... That screen will make Revit look tiny.

Also disable that Intel card as soon as you get it, but yeah, it's a good workstation.

Revit and Autocad want to use one card only...which you will want to be the Quadro.  Else Windows will attempt to switch cards on you at different times and Revit/Autocad will crash.

Did you compare the system requirement with the above configuration?

Hi @Viveka_CD I did compare the specs to the requirements and I think it exceeds the minimum anyways. Thanks!

Your mobile workstation is very good, spec wise.  The minimum specs are quite mediocre, no need to compare them.
