Worksharing Monitor for 2018 is not working

When I open the Worksharing Monitor it says "No workshared files are currently open." even though I do have a workshared file open. How do I get this to work?

Thanks

-Try signing out and signing back in in upper right corner of screen.

-Do other users on the same project ( or other projects?) have the same problem?

Thank you for your reply. Signing in and out did not fix the issue. And others on the project are able to use WSM just fine.

Can you Synch to Central correctly?

Yes, I can synchronize correctly. I can also view history under the Manage Models section of the Collaborate tab and it shows all saves to the project including mine.

-Make sure you are on the exact same build of Revit 2018 as the rest of your team.

-If so, then try running a Repair on your Revit 2018 install. I'd ask IT ( if you have them) before doing this and maybe have them do it.

-Sounds like your WS Monitor became corrupt. A Repair might fix it; less drastic than a whole uninstall/reinstall.

Hi!

I have this exactly the same issue with 2019 version where the WSM is built in. Could someone from autodesk solve this now?

You might have to wait a while. This is a user help forum for users to help users. It is not a way to directly connect with Autodesk.

BTW, the tool works. It's something about your situation that is causing it not to work correctly.

@RobDraw  I think this is a general Revit Forum for all not only for users. I have discussed here with adsk employees many times and i see much greater value to solve the problems here in public than in private.

So, if you don't mind waiting hours for a response, why did you say you wanted Autodesk to solve it "now"?

Also, since the tool does work, what do you expect them to do about it?

There is this cool thing when you login at manage.autodesk.com and click the question mark in the top right corner there is a "Contact Support" link.  That is your best option instead of waiting for an Autodesk employee to stop by the public user forum when a question is not answered.

But I will throw this out there....do you have any chat programs installed on your computer?  Or any programs that are linked to your phone?  If so, temporarily disable them and see if that fixes your issue.  That has happened to me in the past, which is one of the reasons  I just don't use WSM anymore.

Hi @Anonymous!

Yes I know that.

You are also missing my point here. I could raise the priveate support ticket to Autodesk but then I would be the only one who gets the answer. My point here was just to raise that someone else is having issues with WSM also. Autodesk knows also about the problems with WSM, you can read it by yourself:

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/revit-products/troubleshooting/caas/CloudHelp/cloudhelp/2019/...

So again, if you don't mind. Autodesk please make it to work properly.

Still no responses from Autodesk...

Like I said, this is a user support forum, not your personal portal to Autodesk for requesting fixes. To top it off, you're hijacking someone else's thread.

SMH...

How do you think those Knowledge articles are created?  I have quite a few of them from the issues I submitted via support tickets that do get shared with others as an article you just shared.  Also, there are thousands of posts here...your request will be lost.  Do everyone a favor, submit a ticket.

There are a lot of support folk on the Revit side, and they don't visit the forums....or maybe just not this one.

OK. This is getting strange. If this is so bad topic to you please forget. Forget that I even mentioned Autodesk here. I just brought up that I have similar issues with the 2019 version like the original poster had with the 2018.  I have created a ticket and brought this up inside our company.

Next time you could just give me your tips right away because that was just what I was searching about, getting tips. But it didin't work, sadly.

PEACE!

Is this how you ask for tips?

Close the central file, reopen it with Create New Local box checked, then start WSM tool again.

If you don't know that you need to do that when opening a workshared project, you might need to evaluate your workflow and make sure you are using Revit correctly before demanding a fix for something that isn't broken.

@ToanDN Tried creating a new local but did not help.

@RobDraw Did I hurt your feelings that much? Could you just let it go?
