Window Tags and Schedule

I’ve created a sample project and inserted 5 windows into the walls. The 5 windows are comprised of only 2 types. When I create a schedule however, each window has its own “mark” numbered consecutively. How to you get the tags on the plan to match the schedule? I apologize if this is incredibly simple, I just can’t find it.

The Window TAG is using the TYPE MARK and the schedule is using Mark (Instance)

Open the Window Tag Family. / Edit Family

then follow the graphics

Load it back in the project.

Is it possible to have both the Tag Mark (number) and the Type Mark? For instance, if I have 30 windows, and only 3 types, I get a schedule with 30 entries, and each entry Type is either "A", "B", or "C".

You should be able to create a custom tag that has both the Type Mark and the Mark parameters (in separate labels or in the same label, depending upon how you want them displayed).  Keep in mind that Revit will want all of the Mark parameters to be unique, and will give you a warning if they are not.  So if your Type Marks are letters and your Marks are numerals, you could have A1, A5, A7, B3, B4, B8, C2, C6, C9.  If you want A1, A2, A3, B1, B2, B3, C1, C2, C3, you will get warnings about the identical Mark values.

From your description, it sounds like you are showing the Type Mark in your schedule.

Create separate labels, Mark and Type Mark, align them next to each other in yr tag family, reload.

We usually have a tag that has Mark and Type mark in separate lines of the same label. The mark gives the unique number, usually related to the room for geographical location, and the Type Mark gives the ID of that type for specification and fabrication.
