Why do Parts lose their Dimensions and Spot Elevations?

Hi all, sometimes when we make edits to walls that have been broken into Parts all of the dimensions and spot elevations stuck to the Parts get removed. It seems to happen with no regularity. Even simple edits like checking on 'Structural' causes the parts to lose their dimensions.

 

Is there something secret about Parts and their usage as dimensional references that we are missing?

 

FYI we use Parts for our Slab Edge drawings to break down our exterior wall assemblies into their constituent structural items.

 

 

Any help is appreciated!

I tested with some simple wall modification and the dimension and spot elevation hosted on Parts remain intact.

Hello Sean,

 

We have the same issue in one project but then it was the trick to make all dimensions in the plan while the parts in properties of the view is turn on            (show parts).

 

Have you tried to turn on in view properties - Parts visibility - Show both?

Thanks dcesko, but to my knowledge the team is applying the dimensions and spot elevations in views that have Show Parts turned on. In fact, that is the direct methodology in our Slab Edge plans; once we have broken the walls into parts we apply the dimensions to the parts themselves.

 

The error we are experiencing is almost reminiscent of how Material Tags can sometimes just lose their association and become question marks. There doesn't seem to be a direct cause that we can replicate.

Thanks Toan, the issue we have is that some dims and spots tend to stay, while others go away. We cannot seem to predictably replicate the problem.
