Why do I not see "calculate toals"?

Looking to add up my volume field,  under formatting, I can't see calculated totals.

Why is this?

Is it Volume or Material: Volume?

Add Material: Volume instead then you can have Calculate Totals.  And I don't know why Volume doesn't give you that option.
