Why cant I add tread number annotation to stairs in plan view?

Hi guys,

I have stairs in plan view and I'm trying to add the tread numbers to it. When I hover above the stairs, the line to annotate doesn't appear. I think this may have something to do with the level the stairs are on because I can annotate the plans below but not this level.

My guess is that it's related to View Range settings.  Keep in mind that the Stair Tread representation Plan View is Symbolic.

Post the file.   We'll figure it out.

It turns out that I had to unlock the top stair to annotate the tread number. Not sure why but it now works
