why can't revit handle angles

Hey guys,

i'm wondering why it is so hard to create a flexible angle parameter. 

i created a file where i try to make a reference line rotate with a fixed length.

it will only rotate in steps of 5°, if use higher steps i get an error.

Can someone explain why revit can't handle angles parameters? or is it just me?

Perhaps you could elaborate on your problem and what you're trying to do.  Revit can create angle parameters that can rotate to any angle.

I use the generic model family template. in this template I draw a reference line, align and lock them with the reference planes.

Then i make the length of the reference line fixed and give it an angular parameter.

When i try to alter the angular parameter it gives me an error.

It would seem that you have an additional constraint which is not allowing that - see this simple family with a length and angle parameter.

I cant open the RFA cause it is saved in a later version. i use revit 2018.

So here is a family that has been shared many, many, many times... showing how to get angles to work properly without flipping.  While they are model lines, reference lines work the same way.

What the heck Autodesk?  This is a Revit forum and we cannot upload rfa and rvt files without zipping them?

The file you posted flexed fine for me after assigning a parameter to the angle dimension. Full range of motion, any value I chose to provide.
