Revit 2016 family template sizes were in the range of 220 to 300k. Revit 2019-2023 family template sizes are almost twice the size. What happened? I know users can't answer this question but I wish the developers would. An AutoCAD DWG with a really fancy dynamic block isn't but a small fraction of this size. An empy DWG file is 17kb.
The template sizes mean that every family that actually has contents has a much larger base size. Every time a family is loaded in a project it get's bigger but oddly increases much less than the typical family template size.
An empty 2023 project file using <none> template is 424K. An empty default template project is 5232k, which is understandable given the number of built in and loadable families preinstalled.
This doesn't have to be answered by users, isn't a priority, and isn't a problem that probably has a user solution. Just curious.
Inflation? I know my dollar went a lot further in 2016 than it does now.

You're comparing apples and oranges.

By today's standards, those files are quite small.

Then why ask in a user help forum where there are no developers.

Some of us lowly users could guess and maybe give you a solid answer but it seems that isn't what you seek. Have you tried comparing the files so you can see the differences for yourself?
