Hello,

I always had this problem whith the hidden lines style. Thes edges of floors and walls are white.

image_2021-01-30_183055.pngIs there a way to have the edges of the color of the material loke in shadowed style ?

Thank you

Hi! You can use the paint tool and use the same material of the floor to paint these edges

I'm a little confused. You say you always have a problem with Hidden Line Style, yet your screenshot is show Colors.  Have you applied Graphic Overrides to the Elements in a Hidden Line View?  Also, I don't know what you mean by "color of the material in shadow style".  But, regarding the edges/faces of the foundation your columns are sitting; they could be white for any number of reasons.  I'd need to examine the file (i.e. Materials, View settings, View/Element VGOs, etc.) to figure it out.

Post your file.

Here the purged rvt with material

I think the best is to use the consistent color style in my case

It's happening because you're using Solid Fill  Surface and Cut Patterns. Don't.

This woraround doesn't work.
The edge of our floors remain white evein if you set the material with the solid fill in any field (section, projection, background, foreground,...)

I don't understand.  Please explain exactly what you are doing and what workaround you are trying to employ that isn't working in your particular case.

Sorry @barthbradley , now I got it better.
I understood as a workaround to not see the edge of floor white.
But actually it is the opposite. We do not have to set the foreground solid fill patter.
I'll givi it a try and let you know.

@barthbradley
the edge of walls and floor are still in a different color even if we have set nothing as foreground pattern.

If we set the pattern for the shaded view works for the shaded view but not in the hide line view.

Cut it with a 3D Section Box and you'll see the Cut Pattern/Color.

...Or use the PAINT tool to paint a Material (with green Surface Patten/Color) on the edge.

the goal is not to see the cut color... but to see the edges with the same color of the projection

Surely there is a way so that, when you make a wall that is made of 1 kind of concrete and nothing else, to have it show up as that material's color on all faces. Surely you aren't expecting people to go through their entire, often huge projects, and re-paint the edges of slabs every few days when the shape changes slightly? That sounds ridiculous.

Is there really no way to have the *default* appearance in Hidden Lines view be the same color on the sides as the top, whenever that kind of floor is drawn?

Why would you need to paint a wall end if it's only made up of one layer (core only).

....are you talking about surface pattern? Wrap the wall ends.  But frankly, that sounds more ridiculous of a solution for a BIM model.  But whatever floats your boat.

What I want:

Every time I make a concrete wall, the top and edges are the same color as the face.

Every time I make a concrete slab, the edges are the same color as the face.

What I don't want:

Every time a wall extends past a slab, I have to use the paint tool to paint the top of it.

Every time I make a concrete slab, I have to use the paint tool on any and all naked edges.

Can Revit not do this? Also, please don't be condescending in your reply.

Yah you can do it.  Add a shading color to the Material.

It had one already. Unless this isn't right.

Ditto. You're pinging me and telling me that my advice/solution "sounds ridiculous".

So, you want color in Hidden Visual Style?

See the images. First one is how it looks, second one is how I want it to look.

So far, it seems to me that this can be achieved two ways:

a) using the paint tool

b) overriding by category or element

The problems with these methods:

a) If the slab changes shape (let's say, it goes from a rectangle to a pentagon), the user needs to find the new edge face in 3D and paint it. Also, it's a lot of painting on projects that are large, and a lot of work for projects in flux.

b) Every time you make a new view, you need to be sure to apply properties or a view template that deals with this. In the case of walls of different material types (and corresponding graphical colors), it'd have to be element-specific.

Either in object styles, material properties, or type properties, I'd want it that if I draw the wall or floor in question, it shows up with all faces the same color, in Hidden Line view, without needing to use the paint tool or V/G, for the reasons listed above.
