Where to set to savings have only one backup?

Revit 2020:  The "Save As" option defaults to 3 backups that we can change to 1 (to one) if we use the "Save As" for every drawing that we want to have only one backup, but this requires doing it for every single drawing.

Is there a place where we can make this save backup to only "one" for all the future drawings without having to go thru the process everytime?

Thanks in advance.

When you save the file, go to the options and change the maximum to 1

But then the next drawing that I open up and work with, like a family file, etc, will have to be "Saved As" again, and that is what I am tryin to avoid, and that is the reason for my original question.  There is not way to do it so it is the future "default" for all drawings until you change it again?

Thanks in advance.

When you create a template you can set it and it will remember that the next project you create from the template.

Let me attempt to talk you out of doing it. I usually increase the number of backups, minimum of 8 with stand alone files...much more with worksharing. Worried about hard drive space? That's so inexpensive these days, minor problem to solve.

For example, with standalone files one back up means the best you can do if something goes wrong is open that one backup file. It has not been uncommon in my experience to find that first backup won't open either...when a bad crash is involved at least.

Three is the default number...that's not really enough either. Let's say you save your work once an hour (and that's much too infrequent)...8 backups means you'd have a unique version of the project for each save during the day. Fewer means you might be able to work back to lunch...or two hours ago at best. Saving every 10 minutes (like I tend to do) means you can get back to 80 minutes ago.

Maybe you've never crashed Revit or your PC... you will eventually, PC's and software are not infallible.
