What to do if I changed and overwrote default Revit families

What is the best, safest way to reinstall the original Revit families without messing anything up? I am afraid I saved over the original templates and I wonder if reinstalling them will change my project files. Is there a way I can access and load the families individually without installing everything at once like the content pack does?

The default set of families is available online, and also from Revit, via Insert > Load Autodesk Family.

FWIW: It's not possible to "save over" the original Family Template (e.g. RFT). The only way you can do this is by opening a Family in Windows Explorer and changing it's extension from RFA to RFT. Still, this will only overwrite an RFT of the same name and in the same folder as the source RFA. Bottom line: it's not easily done.
