Does the global coordinate follow True North & a survey point follow Grid North?  Can anybody confirm this according to these terms?

Survey point is usually an established location which the rest of the site is based off. It gives everyone a centralized working point. Global coordinates are usually geo-located files. You may have acquired the coordinates from a civil file which has the real world location attached to it.

The question is rather broad.  Are you looking for generic text-book definitions, or does it relate to a specific or hypothetical task at hand?  I'd think we could answer the question better if you could provide some context.

The workflows between Revit and Civil 3D are much more seamless using BIM360. What's cool is Site Data is now BIM 360 data. Autodesk is slowly moving away from desktop programs toward total cloud computing. Gotta love it!

Global points are created by gathering a combination of sources, including images from 20,000 miles, with an accuracy of roughly 1'. Survey points are shot with lasers on the ground with an accuracy of 0.0049'. These two systems will always be at odds as the landscape is always changing.
