What is my Revit model missing?

Hello:

A Freelancer just finished the first professional work that contains the historic "Texas School Book Depository" (TSBD) building. Since I am not very familiar with Revit I would like expert professionals to take a look at the model plus photos and indicate what should be added next.

In the Google drive below you will find:
(1) All available photos of the building's interior.

(2) The Revit model in its current version.

(3) A ZIP file containing both of the above.

Feel free to examine the photos using the Google interface or download the whole ZIP package.

Note: Only the permanent fixtures should be included in the Revit version. I have many other models/assets, like these which are separate:

I am not sure whether permanent parts such as pipes, electrical panels, elevators, ceiling lights, etc. have been added properly.

Usually when you contract someone to deliver a BIM 3D/4D/5D... model, you specify a certain LOD. In order to judge what is missing and what to add, one need to know more details on what you have contracted the FL to do and what do you need to use the model for.

Adding too much might not always contribute to better a model...sometimes Less is More

Otherwise...the verdict would be something like "Nice" "OK" "Not Bad" "Yuck"... Moreover, is he willing to add whatever you ask him to add free of charge?

I was suspecting something like that. The building in question was remodeled years ago (*) and my intention is to do renderings, videos and VR immersions of the LOD seen below.

A quick look at the model...I think it would be fair to say that it is average (probably LOD200) and not entirely modeled to match it's original design. There some missing key elements and features...I don't know which you are trying to match before or after?

- Example the staircase going to the roof

- the stamped Victorian style features on the cornices

- The capitals of the façade decorative columns are over sized

- Window frames used do not match original

- No blinds? lol

- Missing Sign on the façade @ roof level

- Missing signs on the roof

- The perforated panel on the ground floor is yuck (I would have modeled that differently

- The trees are ummm unrealistic (Species, Size and density)

With regards to VR...elements such as furniture, cars, trees, general street furniture and people do not really need to be added in the Revit model, those you can add in Enscape/Lumion or VRay ...If you are taking this to VR, you will need to go through those apps anyway

I can bring it to Enscape or Lumion and tell you how it looks from there if you want

There is no before/after. I am trying to build the closest technically and humanly possible to a time machine. All those photos were taken by the FBI for the Warren Commission Report. The only exception is the one below: that is the infamous Sixth Floor. It was obviously taken during reconstruction.

I hurry to add that for the exterior, I have something MUCH, MUCH better (with millimeter accuracy). At the moment a Freelancer in Canada is repairing some details. It is being done in 3ds Max + V-Ray. See renderings below.

Next, she and I will work in a video from the entrance, all the way to the roof.

Well it hasn't been detailed down to that level as shown in the photo...what I meant before renovation or after renovation...because obviously there are some elements which were there in the old pictures but are no longer there in the new ones … example: elevator shaft, sign... (see image):

Anyhow, I am uploading a 5 mins walk-through (for the model as is, no touch ups no additions) just for you to see what is there so far and decide if you need more to be added to it by the Freelancer.

Of course I want...

In reference to the blinds: what you see above is the previous version with those ugly white windows. The current version has glasses with reflection, each window has curtains/blinds [semi]open randomly.

Thanks for pointing that out. That is the old elevator shaft. It was replaced by a new one in the back.

I plan to have contests to see whether people can spot mistakes.

- The price of a Coca-Cola in 1963 was 5 cents, not 25.

Couple of things I bumped into

He needs to fix the entrance stairs I couldn't get in
There are some pipes clashing with the stairs
Would be nice to add doors to the elevator on all floors (fell into the shaft)
Street furniture (pavement/street lamps/manhole covers...etc) not sure if those are part of the deal
The stair going to the roof...that cant be right, something is definitely missing on the roof
The capitals of those decorative façade columns are definitely huge

Again this is a walkthrough the model as it is...no editing, touchup and additions/alterations to the textures/mats which you had in the model (working on a laptop and don't have much processing power)

I had no idea that Revit (plus something?) can do all that!

In reference to being part of the deal. I got a donation of the point cloud files from the producers of the "historic", "last, definitive word", "scientific" (LOL) study.

PBS NOVA Cold Case JFK: Laser Scanning and Models

The author of all the models, simulations and videos, Mike McCormick (the guy you see sitting behind his computer) admitted to me that:

(1) He used the limo model from 3DHum, of dubious precision. The details for that vehicle (jump seats for the Connallys, better dimensions, color was not black it was blue) were provided to Hum3D by my associate, Paul Ernst, recently. IOW: The model used in 2013 was faulty. ALL have been.

(2) Leica Geosystems only did the east and south (entrance) walls.

(3) There were only 8 passes with the laser scanner. Between 25-30 are needed.

(4) No aerial provision, with a LIDAR-equipped dronecopter. This is needed to be located within inches of the sniper's nest.

(5) According to the video, it seems that they relocated the shooter to the 7th. floor. They were not allowed into the 6th.

That was the Enscape plug-in...I didn't really do much more than clicking start and it transfer the model. I find it more practical to navigate in Enscape than in Revit

That is lots of work done on that building! I hope you are getting some funding to do all that lol.

May I ask what for or what is the purpose of this whole project?

(6) No arrangement was made to have the Dallas Police Department doing detail work with the traffic. You can see the operators running around vehicles, like George Costanza and his Frogger machine:

So far, other than the few hundred dollars that I can afford every month the income of JFK Numbers (a Not-for-Profit entity incorporated in the Lone Star State) is $0. (*)
