Want to objects be drawn by dash dot lines or dash lines...

Hey!

This time, I have a presentation problem....

In our country, Finland, we have a standard, where objects below the plan level are presented in dash line

and oblects above are drawn by dash dot line.

Now Revit often draws objects above or below the view range by whole line? And it seems that Revit has no logical habit to drawing them?

For example stairs are drawn by whole line when they are below plan level. And sometimes casework objects are illustrated by whole line when the object is above the view range.

Am I right or wrong about this issue?

How can I control these line styles in different view range? Must I control styles partially in each object? Or is there a way to handle the line styles in generally.

........

Thank you,

Matti Kettunen, in snowy and freezing Finland! ;-D

There are a couple of ways around this.

1) You can use your linework tool to change the objects projection lines to appear as you want them to view. Be careful though. this will sometimes change the entire object tot he line type, not just the hidden / beyond element.

2) You can place detail lines in the families. ie for casework, overhead cupboards, we disable the show in plan and have a dashed details line to show the extent of the casework.

3) Revit will use the "Beyond" line style for some items. So you can adjust the line type in the Line Styles menu.

Hope this helps a little.
