Walls Lose Color When Structural Framing with 100% Transparency Overlaps (Revit 2025 PDF Export Issue)

Hi, I'm trying to troubleshoot an issue I came across this morning. I’m trying to understand why, when I have a structural framing element set to 100% transparency (so that only the outlines are visible) placed on top of a wall set to 60% transparency with a solid color fill, the wall loses its color when exporting to PDF using vector processing (In Revit view and raster processing the produce normal results).

This issue started occurring in Revit 2025. I opened the same file in both Revit 2024 and Revit 2025 — in 2024, it exported to PDF as expected, but in 2025, the walls lose their color whenever structural framing elements overlap them.

I’ve run into the same behavior in 2025 — it definitely looks like a regression from 2024.

From what I’ve tested, the issue only appears when vector processing is used during PDF export and involves stacked transparent elements (especially when one of them is 100% transparent). The moment the framing with full transparency overlaps a wall that has any kind of shaded or filled surface, the wall’s color fill disappears in the exported PDF.

A few workarounds that seem to help for now:
• Temporarily switch the export to Raster Processing (renders correctly).
• Or, reduce the framing transparency slightly — even 99% transparency keeps the wall color visible.
• Another option is to export the view as an image (PNG) and then convert it to PDF externally, though that’s obviously less ideal for vector output.

I haven’t seen an official fix note for this yet in the Revit 2025 updates or the Revit 2026 release notes, so it might still be pending review. Definitely worth logging it on the Revit Ideas or Feedback Hub so the dev team can track it.

TL;DR — yes, it’s new in 2025, seems related to how Revit handles fully transparent geometry in the vector PDF pipeline. Not fixed yet (as far as I know).
