Walls have a black fill in 3d

Any time I go into a 3d view, my wall fills turn black. They used to be all black, but I was able to tweak the phase appearances to show rendered materials. Can someone help me find the setting to change this black fill color?

What happens when you change Detail level to Medium or Fine instead of coarse?

The wall needs to be cut by the section box and the view needs to be medium or fine in order for you to see the layers. If it is not cut, you need to convert it to parts and set the view to show parts to see the layers.

You are correct, I can see the layers when using a section box. But what I want to change is that black color to something less aggressive, like light gray or something.

Go to Object Styles, look at the material assigned to the Walls category, edit and change its Shading to the color you like.

long shot, but if you change your view to Thin Line (TL) does it still look filled?

It wasn't the exact method I needed, but you led me in the right direction. Apparently the user before me had messed with the phases, and changed the appearance color. So I did the similar approach you suggested, but in the phases dialogue.
