Wall Layer 0.5mm

Greetings all,

 

We are working on 3D printing mockup samples for various wall types (1:1) 800x600 (in 4 parts assembled like Lego tiles. The problem I am having is that we have several types which need to receive a 0.5mm metal sheet but Revit does not seem to allow any input less that ca0.8mm

 

Any ideas how to do this?

  1. Model the Metal sheet as a separate wall type, single layer 1mm thick.
  2. Align center to finish face of the main wall assembly
  3. then Cut or Join Geometry...(Pick main first...You might need to switch join order if you don't get it the first time)

 

However, I wouldn't model such thin elements in Revit...you might want to consider doing that using Inventor which is more suited for both, fabrication parts and CAM/3D Print

Alternatively

Model as one wall with finish layer (the metal sheet) as 1mm thick layer

Convert to PARTS...

Divide the 1mm layer into 2x 0.5mm 

Exclude the outer part

 

Might be more useful if you need shape handles to overlap layers between the 4 pieces of the mockup assembly

Perfect! both work for me. Thank you. I will look into Inventor but for now it has to work in Revit.
