Wall Join Issue

I am attaching a PDF of a simple wall join issue - or so I thought. The walls coming togetther in the circles are not deleting the line at the join. These walls contain just one layer. They are different thicknesses.  They are the same height. Why would the line remain ?

Are the walls the same material? I have seen it do this if the materials are different?

By chance are they set to not join?
