As the question says, I have a model including everything like columns, slabs, walls. Now I would like to add a single layer of plaster to all those. Adding wall layers is of no help because at the points where walls meet columns I cannot extend the plaster layer horizontally beyond the wall line to cover the column. And similarly I would like to plaster the interior side of the slab with same plaster(gypsum) like in real life. is there any possible way to do that?

I've got what you're trying to explain. But I want to terminate the wall at the edge of column & then extend the layers horizontally and vertically. I can extend the layer vertically by unlocking wall layers, but how to extend it horizontally?.
I have made some changes in the file and attached it to depict what exactly I want to do. In the file, you can see in the plan how I would like the plaster line to be. and how I want the wall to end at the starting of the column. and If you go the 3d it shows how I can extend the plaster layer vertically to the slab, but extending it horizontally to the column is not possible
Depending if you're working with architectural or structural columns, here are some combinations I have found. See attached images, I hope this is what you're looking for.
I approach these issues depending on situation and project. What others already have been saying use an architectural column which allows to wrap wall material around it. If I need to have structural columns I sometimes put a custom architectual column around it so that it wraps the wall layers.
In other instances I just create a new wall consisting of just the plaster layer. This especially works great if walls and wall covering belong to different departments/companies (not uncommon).

Now speaking about wall plaster extending in front of floors and slabs, here's what I usually do. I use a base or top offset for the wall so that it fully intersects with the floor slab. Note that the wall's core must be aligned with the slab's core. Then use the "cut geometry" tool and everything will display nicely!!! See pictures.
yeah thank you, but when they are joined, the hatch patterns match too. I want it to show different hatch patterns for the brick walls and concrete columns after joined too, like when I joined slab and wall.
You achieve that using the structural column, see the second picture I attached in my first reply. When using a structural column plus an architectural wall the column graphical properties remain untouched. It remains as a concrete column independent of the wall's structure. The key here is to align the core of the wall to the core of the column, hence when you extend the wall to the outer edge of the column Revit automatically extends JUST the wall finish in front of the column.
go to edit type , turn on sectional preview, click at the bottom of the layer you want to extend in your case the plaster, unlock it then 'ok'. go back to your section and now you have control over the vertical extent of the plaster
I am still really struggling with how to handle this. The minute you start doing bespoke walls around every column you completely defeat the point of BIM, which is supposed to automate relationships between geometries. You also create a nightmare for yourself when you make changes.
At the moment I am just keeping the walls as core elements and painting every surface with a plaster material but this also feels stupidly labour intensive and I still face the issue of having to join every element (and block joint with invisible lines) in order to make it look presentable. Its really labour intensive and I find it frustrating.
Hello all, I have done the process of making a wall of just the plaster and added it to the main masonry wall. I did the join geometry to get the doors to get themselves out !!
Post that i added 15 mm plaster on the soffit of the slab and it did join itself to the plaster !!
However i just checked the section which was cutting through the column and noticed that the plaster going through the junction as well. Join geometry and cut geometry doesnt seem to do the job.
What am i missing ?
