Wall dimensions reference

Hello there.

is it possible to set walls dimensions from the outer face?

Let's say I create a vertical wall 5 meters long, after I create an horizontal wall from the top edge of the vertical wall I get that

 - the vertical wall is long 5 meters + 1/2 of the horizontal wall's depth

 - the horizontal wall is long whatever I've put + 1/2 of the vertical wall depth

I've found out that I can use the measure tool to write the measurement between the external face of the wall and then change them by selecting the perpendicular wall, but is there a way to change the way it snaps and measures, from the middle of the wall to the external or internal face of the wall?

When you initiate the wall command you can change Location Line from Center to Exterior or Interior Finish Face.

Similarly, when dimension the walls you can change the reference from Center to Finish Face, or simply TAB when pick the wall to cycle the dim reference on the fly.

it always measures from the location line you select when you draw the wall. Your options are wall center line, core face exterior and interior, wall face exterior and interior. Choose whicever works for you.

thank you for the response, however, the screencast shows the measure tool which I already use. I wanted to know if there is an easy way when creating the wall from scratch, I've tried what you said changing the location line, but when I enter the measures using the keyboard while creating the wall at the end, the measure I've set is always measuring between the wall middles.

Could you please show me a screencast of what you meant with the first option?

My screencast refuses to work today but look at the screenshots.  Change the Location Line when you start drawing walls as suggested.  It should work.
