Voids in family not visible in model

I have voids in a family (Specialty Equipment) made of simple families of simple rectangular tubing and plates. The voids represent bolt holes. They were made by creating a face-based family of a void extrusion, so I can adjust the diameter and depth of the holes by parameter. The voids are grouped in pairs. They work well in the family but aren't visible when the family is loaded into the model. The holes you see in the model are created by direct placement of void extrusions. The problem with this method is that each void extrusion has to be created individually or it won't even cut the family. The problem is evident in ortho views as well. Any ideas? Thanks.

have you tryed to assign thickness parameter to your voids?

Usually face based generic model need a thicknes parameter because they will not automatically cut the untire host surface

Thanks for answering. I have a parameter called "depth" that determines the penetration into the hosting extrusion. Is this what you mean by "thickness"?

So, I have that. The problem is, the void works well in the family, but when I load the family, it doesn't appear in the model.

when you create the shape in a separate family and insert hols, they show in rendering.

you can add parameters for them and it is easy way

 ahmadfiroozi000  Would you mind clarifying? When i make the voids as a separate family, then insert them into the main family, the holes appear in the main family, but when I then insert the main family into the model, the holes disappear. If I put the holes family into the model directly, on the inserted main family, they appear in the model. The problem occurs when the main family is inserted into the model.

Here are views. FAMILY VIEW shows the family with the hole template working correctly. MODEL VIEW shows the inserted family with the holes not appearing. In red, the hole template is shown inserted directly into the model, where it works correctly. Why does it not work when inserted as part of the family?

It seems voids are not cutting the surface (Try to check if they are properly Hosted, I think this appear <not hosted>).

I suggest you to post the family.

I am sorry but this does not seem a family. I have a steel modeller in my firm and this seems to me a perfect work for Steel Tab + Steel structural families.

NB Just my point of view.

It is what it is. As part of a bigger assembly, it has been stamped by a structural engineer for use in a seismic area. I have only recently ventured into the structural part of Revit. I agree that it's wonderful, but I haven't yet experimented with replacing the parts of this family.

Not reliably. Some worked, some didn't. I hope you succeed!
