Void Forms in Nested Families

I'm fairly new to nested families and I'm trying to use a sink family provided by Kohler in a cabinet family I've created.  The family is a face based family that comes with void form but for some reason it will not subtract from my countertop/cabinet volume.  Can anyone give me any possible tips.  I've read some things about needing to match the category of the various elements involved.  The cabinet family is currently a casework category.  Any help is greatly appreciated.

Changes at the level of fine detail. This configuration because visibility status of the nested family.
