Visibility and Graphic Display : Problem

Hi

We have a problem with the "Visibility and Graphis Display" box. More specifically, the "Annotation Categories" box.

In one model, it takes like 10-15 minutes before we can have access to the modification box when we are clicking on it.

In another one, We just never have access to it because Revit is always trying to open it and it never does. So we always have to close Revit and re-open it to continue working...

It began in the first model and I think that happened in the second model when I transfered some of the project standards from the first model (like object styles, light weights or line styles).

You can see in the attachment file that it stucks to "Model Categories" when we click on "Annotation Categories".

What can be the causes of all this?!

We are using Revit 2015.

Thank you.

I've been able to find when this happened (with backup files). I then compared 2 back up files (1 that worked and 1 that doesn't). I checked every single family and groups of family. They seem fine.
Thanks for your help though.

@loboarch, are you aware of some issue like @Anonymous's?

Honestly don't know. If I was to guess some kind of "bad" annotation family was loaded with a ton of subcategories or something. I would send along to Product Support as well. The could have dev compare a "good" file to a "bad" file and perhaps find the reason.

hey,

I have pretty much the same problem here, a file just got slow, trying to VV it...

I compared both files (fast and slow) and did not find anything relevant.

did you find something in the end or did you just redid the work?

Je peux répondre en français? (Are you speaking french?)

FYI, there is now a french Revit forum.

thanks;

we both know about it.

and 90% of revit users can speak English...

so to find a solution to a Revit mess, we deal in the main trade language 😛

as for a solution.

I got a subcategory linetype in the component detail category that copied itself more than 100 000+ times

the same linetype...

it took me hours to figure out why VV graphics visibility settings tooks minutes to open.

I tried deleting them all at once... no chance.

then I took a bunch of them (around 5000 at a time) and deleted them... it took me a few minutes and fixed the problem.

we did not find out if it was a specific family that caused the problem yet.

another solution is to run a macro.

you can find a base here and here too and here

or to make a dynamo routine.
