Viewing Main Floor Plan Wall Outlines while in Top Floor Plan

Hello!

I am designing a medium size home that includes a basement level, main level, and upstairs (or top) level.  Currently, I have foundation walls in the basement and generic walls on the main level.

What I am trying to do is view the walls from the main level while I am on the upstairs level floor plan so that I know where the outline of the home is and all the previous rooms I created on the main floor.  I am not sure how I succeeded viewing the basement wall outlines in the main level floor plan but I did somehow.  I tried underlaying the floor levels, but I don't think I did that correctly because I did not see anything when I clicked on the top level floor plan. I also don't want to go to the elevation view and manually drag each side wall to the top floor level every time I create a new project.

Is there an easier way to just highlight every wall on the main floor and project the outlines to the top level (or any other level for that matter)?  Thank you to anyone who can help!

If you want to see floor A in floor B view, then open floor B view and turn on underlay, select floor A from the list, look down.

I think I selected the proper underlay settings in my top level (or B as you call it), but still nothing shows up... Is it a setting I have turned off? I applied the underlay settings (see attached images).  My top floor still shows nothing from the main floor.

Strange.  Can you share the file?

Your View Range Settings may be the culprit. I vaguely remember something about this. Something about underlay elements being "captured" by the current view's view range. What are your bottom and depth range settings? If not zero, try that. Sorry, I not at computer right now to test myself.

@Anonymous : This is what I was vaguely remembering last night when I replied to you:

Thanks, I think you are on to something but I'm still not having any luck. My walls are 10' tall and span from the main floor exactly to the top floor (see EAST side elevation picture). All my Visibility/Graphics settings for my Level 2 Floor Plan are turned on (including the roof).  The underlay setting is set to LOOK DOWN when I am on the Level 2 as well as the BASE LEVEL: Level 1, and TOP LEVEL: Level 2. In the View Templates window, I have the box next to LOOK DOWN selected (refer to image).  Here are all the RANGE SETTINGS (see range settings picture).

I included the file I'm working on if that helps.  Thanks!

Ah! Another memory is bubbling to the top. @ToanDN, didn't we address this issue about a year ago? Something to do with templates and underlay behavior? Do you remember?

Print it and keep near your desktop for quick reference.

Glad I could help.

Cheers.

Thank you both! That fixed the problem.  For anyone else who wants to know, I wanted to see my level 1 floor plan in my level 2 floor plan because I needed to see the walls from the level 1. So, I went into my level 2 floor plan and then selected the VIEW tab, and then the VIEW TEMPLATES button, select APPLY TEMPLATE PROPERTIES TO CURRENT VIEW, check the box to the right of the UNDERLAY ORIENTATION, make sure "LOOK DOWN" is shown and then most importantly, set the PHASE FILTER to NONE with the box to the right also checked. I did not mess around with the view range value box, however, make sure that the Primary Range and View Depth subgroups are all set to "Associated Level."  Finally, be sure to APPLY all the properties and hit OK. Hope that helps! Also, here is a link in case your View Ranges are messed up (View Range Information).

....setting the phase filter to the phase that the walls are in, will work as well. Doesn't have to be "None".

@Anonymous

Glad it is solved. Be sure to read and understand Phase and Phase Filter. More than half the questions posted here asking why stuff gone missing somehow relate to those.
