View range - object style of roof - Above

In a small residential project I want to show the outline of the roof overhang as a dashed or hidden line above my floor plan.  In the description of hte View Range it says that any object between the Top range and the Cut plane will show with their object style.  How do I have the outline of roof, which is in this range be shown as a dashed line?  Thanks in advance.

Regards Peter.

  • In Properties>Underlay - use as underlay the Roof Level
  • The roof level appear on the View . In this view select the roof and then
  • View > Linework (LW) > Line Style -choose Hidden Line or other type you wnt to use and click border line of the roof
  • turn off Underlay
  • the hidden lines contour remains on view. Do not erase this contur because you will erase the roof . If you change the roof shape this contour will update to fit the new shape

Only SOME categories will show up above the cut plane. Roofs is not one of those categories.

You will need to accept a cut plane above the roof, and then override the graphics of the roof to be transparant and dashed lines. But then you aren't going to get your walls cut to show openings.

Or you will just have to draw your dashed lines with annotation detail lines.

Or do what Constantin said. He is a genius.

I'm often learning new things here -- this is an A+ tip. It had never occurred to me to use LW on an underlay! Thanks so much for this.
