View Range - ARCHS VS MEP

Anonymous

Hello everyone,

I have just realized that REVIT MEP has different view range settings than the ARCH. So, please help me if I am wrong.

I attached some files to see the problem better. As you can see I have placed some elements above the cut plane which is at a height of 1.2m. On ARCHS it is not possible to see the elements above, but if I link it on a MEP template file then it is possible.

So what is the default setting for REVIT, to see or not above the cut plane?

When I open an ARCH template, it is not possible to see everything above the cut plane.

When I am using an MEP or no template it is possible.

Is there any setting to change the cut plane behaviour?

Your link pic is showing the first floor. The arch one is the ground floor.

And no, the a view range is a view range. They behave the same way no matter what trade you are using.

Hi Rob,

this is because the link has a different level name. There is no mistake on the pictures. Unfortunately, I cannot confirm what you say regarding the view range.

You asked the question and I answered it. A view range is a view range. If it is in an MEP model or and architectural model, it's still a view range and will behave like a view range will in any other trade. Get it?

Why not use the same name?

If, as you say, the view ranges are the same and you are not seeing what you want to see, you need to look at other possibilities.

Have you checked ALL visibility settings for the view?

The image titled arch has the view set to look up. Why is that?

You also have a toilet and an air terminal above the ceiling. Maybe it's the ceiling that is in the way.

I would correct these not so minor issues, put the view range theory to bed, and then try to get the settings the way you would like.

The changes you are seeing are most likely due to the discipline of the view. The discipline affects what you see or what the view range allows you to see.

I think this is probably at the root of the issue. You can see an example of this on this help topic:

http://help.autodesk.com/view/RVT/2019/ENU/?guid=GUID-5D8831F6-6F15-4BF3-ACEB-06FBC14A5491

All of the plans in this topic have EXACTLY the same view range, but show different elements based on the discipline of the view.
